The most popular lighting trends for 2017

The most popular lighting trends for 2017

Lighting should be an integral part of your interior design. it is a very important architectural and design element that can change the whole look of your home. And just like in fashion, there are trends in lighting design that change regularly and that determinate both functionality and the look of the lighting fixtures. Therefore we discuss 6 of the most popular lighting trends for 2017.

# 1 Have your ruler ready: geometry it is

In 2016 we have witnessed that lighting fixtures in geometric shapes have become popular. It is like opening your math book in high school. Light fixtures in spherical, hexagonal and cylindrical forms are trending in 2017 too.

# 2 Sustainability: LEDs all the way

With earth day 2017 around the corner, it is good to realise how much electricity ‘regular’ light bulbs use. Therefore an important trend in 2017 – and we think this should be an everlasting trend – is sustainability. LEDs will also dominate in lighting industry in 2017. In 2016 LEDs were rather expensive, but thanks to the rapid innovations that are happening in the LED industry, this year might be the year, when most people switch to LED lights. LEDs are incredibly energy efficient, have a long lifespan, are environmentally friendly, so there is no question why you, too, should switch to LEDs. And now they are becoming smart to!

# 3 Smart LED lamps

Although already introduced in 2016, smart LED bulbs will become a must-have for any modern household in 2017. Smart LED lamps have many cool features. For example, you can change the color of the light that these bulbs emit. But most importantly, smart lighting has much more efficiency due to scheduling and automation which can be controlled using a smartphone.

# 4 Mixing metals

Metals are being widely used in light fixtures for some time now, especially metals in brass and gold colors, but now it has become modern to mix different metals together and experiment with them. You see a lot of brass with silver and other metals in 2017 collections.

# 5 I (terra)cotta have it!

Remember the 80s? Back then it was a trend to use materials in warm colours such as terracotta. And guess what?  This trend is somewhat making a comeback. But instead of using traditional border tiles like it was done in the past, natural matte finishes are introduced. For example, clay pendant lamps in terracotta color will be great additions to almost any interior and will look especially great in your kitchen or bathroom.

#6 LED Edison type bulbs

As all kind of retro, industrial and vintage elements are being used in interior design, retro light sources are also a huge trend right now. These bulbs provide warm and unique look to your space, while not outshine other elements of your interior. And don’t worry about your electricity bill, LEDs are incredibly energy efficient.
